AED stands for Alpha Epsilon Delta and is a Pre Health Honor society focused on preparing students for careers in Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Podiatry, Veterinary Medicine and other Allied Health Professions. Our organization, SMU AED, is a chapter of the national organization and is focused on providing the pre-health community here on campus mentorship events, learning and service opportunities, and a community to connect with as they navigate their pre-health journey here at SMU.

During the spring semester, students can apply to join AED.

Eligibility requirements:
According to our constitution, the minimum requirements for active membership shall be:
(1) The student shall be engaged in courses leading to the study of medicine or other health care profession.
(2) The student shall have been enrolled in an institution of higher education for a minimum of 3 semesters, and have attained a 3.20 science (BCPM) GPA based on at least 3 semesters of pre-health professions coursework AND a 3.20 overall GPA.
(3) Character, general ability, and personality must be considered carefully in the selection of every member.
(4) For transfer students, the GPA used to determine scholastic eligibility at the new school will be determined by averaging all grades from both the old & new schools (and all science grades from both schools). No high school grades are accepted.
(5) Members shall be elected without any discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, creed or national origin.

Note: J-term, May-term and summer terms all count as semesters. This can include semesters at another university if your credits have transferred.

Mustang Ballroom Dance Club strives to educate its members on Ballroom and Latin dancing in a fun and friendly environment. We offer classes from beginner to advanced (no previous experience is required). We also participate in competitions around Texas.

Our members participate in various social events both on and off campus, including monthly social dances and club dinners. We hope to foster a love of Ballroom and Latin dancing through these events and by participating in competitions. 

Mustang Ballroom Dance Club teaches the following dances:
International Ballroom: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep
International Latin: Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive

Our coaches are highly experienced in dancing and teaching. In addition to teaching here at Mustang Ballroom Dance Club, they compete locally and nationally. Mustang Ballroom Dance Club also facilitates a competitive team, and all members are encouraged to participate in the collegiate ballroom competitions we attend around the state of Texas. Past competitions include those at Rice University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Houston.

Mustang EMS is dedicated to providing first aid, CPR, and emergency preparedness education to everyone on campus through monthly skills sessions, CPR/AED and Stop the Bleed certification classes, and monthly blood drives. Mustang EMS also encourages members to attend an accredited Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) certification class, which equips students to respond to medical emergencies ranging from bleeding control to oxygen administration and CPR.

The SMU Panhellenic Council exists as the governing body over the seven National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sororities located on our campus. The Council is comprised of seven executive officers and seven chapter delegates and junior delegates. It is the responsibility of the Council to unite all seven chapters in the spirit of Greek unity, to enforce the NPC guidelines, and to oversee and regulate the recruitment process. The Council works year-round to promote positive ideals of sorority life at SMU, and contribute to the SMU community through involvement, leadership, academic, philanthropic projects, school spirit, and overall support. Sororities were among the first organizations at SMU founded during 1915, with Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Mu, and Alpha Delta Pi being the first three chapters to colonize. The growth of the SMU Panhellenic Council was prolific during the twenties and thirties, and over time SMU has hosted 15 different NPC chapters.

Paper For Water's primary mission is to bring water and the Word to the Thirsty, one piece of paper at a time. Paper For Water members fold origami for various displays in order to raise money to fund water and sanitation projects worldwide, creating opportunities for better health, education, and brighter futures. The purpose of the Mustang Skiers shall be to help provide the opportunity for Southern Methodist University Students to compete in NCWSA-sanctioned collegiate water skiing competitions, as well as the resources needed to learn how to waterski while providing them with access to a group in which to have fun and build lifelong, shared-interest relationships.
