The Business Library is located in the Cox School of Business and provides access to dedicated business librarians offering classroom instruction, open enrollment workshops and reference services to the SMU community. The library collections feature prestigious research databases focused on the school’s academic disciplines. The Business Library contains the Kitt Investing & Trading Center, a dynamic instructional and research facility integrating financial data and technology into the curriculum, enhancing innovative faculty research, and teaching students practical finance and investment applications. The Business Library is open to anyone with a valid SMU ID or Alumni Library Card.

The Hilltop Scholars Program (HSP) is a first-year honors program with a focus on community service and leadership. HSP students are charismatic and driven, and we encourage them to contribute to SMU by moving into leadership and service positions across campus. The program focuses on giving to the University and Dallas by providing students with the opportunity to participate in on-campus organizations and off-campus service projects. HSP allows high-achieving, community-minded, first-year students to have an honors experience that emphasizes their dedication to service and leadership.

The BBA Energy Club and the MBA Energy Clubs are two of the largest and most active organizations on campus. Both are sponsored by the Maguire Energy Institute. Programs include seminars, forums, guest speakers and field trips which help students understand the complex issues surrounding the energy industry today. The Maguire Energy Institute also works closely with SMU’s Department of Earth Sciences, Dedman School of Law, and the Lyle School of Engineering on energy programs of mutual interest.

The Mustang Scholars Program focuses on Cultivating Texas Talent through empowerment activities, community building, civic engagement, and developing a culturally conscious scholar. Throughout their four-year intimate cohort-based experience, Scholars celebrate unique Texas identities and communities while addressing various community needs. Scholars receive personalized mentoring, participate in community engagement, and complete a cohort capstone project. This program will empower scholars to leave a legacy and execute a plan of action before concluding their undergraduate careers.

The Office of Engaged Learning (OEL) empowers undergraduate students to expand their learning beyond the classroom through experiential programs.

Our comprehensive offerings include funding, mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities allowing students to showcase their work and connect with peers in their field. The Engaged Learning Fellowship (ELF), Engaged Learning Starter Award (ELSA), Undergraduate Research Assistantships (URA), and Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU) are among the programs offered by OEL. Additionally, we coordinate the Summer Research Intensive (SRI) and programming for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU).

Since 1973 Fort Burgwin has been an SMU educational center. Its setting in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, surrounded by the Carson National Forest, provides a unique backdrop for the enrichment of body, mind and spirit. For the curious and open-minded, SMU-in-Taos is an SMU satellite campus that specializes in cultivating educational opportunities that are enhanced by the cultural and natural resources of Northern New Mexico. SMU-in-Taos provides a unique experience for students away from the main campus where they can engage in experiential, personalized, hands-on collaboration with classmates and professors.
